Norsul has achieved Gold certification in the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, underscoring its ongoing commitment to sustainable greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions management. Since 2021, the company has reported its emissions and published its GHG Emissions Inventory in the program’s public registry, a global benchmark in emissions management.
Norsul’s journey in the program reflects steady progress. The company earned the Bronze Seal in 2022, advanced to the Silver Seal in 2023, and reached the Gold Seal in 2024, which corresponds to emissions reported and published for the 2023 cycle.
Rafael Mendes, Manager of QSMS and Sustainability, emphasized the significance of this certification: “This achievement confirms Norsul’s commitment to sustainable transportation. In 2023, in addition to reporting Scope 1 and 2 emissions, the company conducted an external audit to ensure the accuracy of its GHG inventory and strengthen energy efficiency measures, reducing emissions.”
Earning the Gold Seal in the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program is a significant milestone for Norsul, which remains dedicated to reducing its emissions and adopting more sustainable transportation practices.
Established in 2008, the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program adapts the international GHG Protocol methodology to the Brazilian context, providing tools to calculate and estimate GHG emissions. The program’s primary goal is to foster a culture of emissions inventory among Brazilian companies, promoting transparent and responsible emissions management.
For Norsul, sustainability is a core value. Achieving the Gold Seal reflects the company’s continuous efforts to manage its GHG emissions transparently and adopt more sustainable transportation practices. The external audit conducted in 2024 was crucial in ensuring data accuracy and strengthening energy efficiency initiatives.
